Above he is a -1 on the scoring chart and is over 200 pounds underweight. The farrier found Thrush in all 4 hooves
and he has Rainrot along his back and rump. The first vet visit was over $400 with the blood work, vaccinations, coggins.
Some of his needs in weeks to follow were a bag of Seminole Senior at $16.95 and a bag of alfalfa pellets at $18 he will
go through  1 of each of these a week, a bag of beet pulp at $13.95 each. Because he is so bony he needed stall
shaving to lay on in his stall, they are $5.50 a bag and you have to put at least three bags in to make it soft, when you
clean the stall you loss some so you  have to replace them. Iodine shampoo for the  rainrot and Iodine for his feet,
wormers, one the first week and then one each 8 weeks they run about $8 each. His  hooves trimming is every 4 to 6
weeks at $20, just some of the things he needs. It will take many months to get him built back up.

5/25/2009 Poco's red blood cell count is off and he has anemia the
count is 5 when it should be between a 7-9,we had to put him on Red
Cell an Iron supplement which cost $36 a bottle. Being starved and
not receiving the Iron and minerals in the food can cause Anemia, the
body can not replace the Iron as fast as it is used when there is no
food or minerals containing Iron coming into the body. Dr Roberts
floated his teeth today and she stated they are some of the worst
teeth she has seen, they look like they have never been done
before. Some have long very sharp points deep valleys and sever
waves, none of the surfaces match up. The left cheek
sharp points have been cutting into the  side
of the mouth.

5/28/09 Poco has gained a total of 45 pounds in the

right on goal time, slow but steady.

pounds

7/28/09 Poco has now gained 105 and has hit a Plato
and slowed down on weight gain, this is normal when
rehabilitating a starved horse. We will make some
changes to his diet and see if he starts to gain again.

8/5/09 Poco is full of energy and has gained 110
pounds.
